Default Harness Wire Identification Help

Hey Guys,

I'm an avid searcher of the forum and I wasn't able to find answers to my questions.

I have three questions. I just installed a new engine, dash, and rear harness and am testing the connections. Almost all the connections that I have hooked up are operational (haven't hooked up any heater, A/C, Wiper connections).

Question 1

The picture below (Picture 2) is the ignition harness. The car works in Acc and Ign as it should, but I get nada from the starter. So initial searches found that often this is the clutch safety switch. Either mine is missing because I have a richmond swap or I just wasn't able to see it. Regardless, I'm good at starting the car in neutral so I bridged it (Picture 1). Does the picture below show the correct way to bridge it?

That didn't work for me though. So my next step was to check the connections on the column. I checked the connection and found that the black plug connector that connects to my ignition/steering column had pinched the bottom connector (orange wire/Ignition 3). I unplugged and corrected that, but still nothing. So my next question is, my ignition receiver clearly has four male connections, however my harness only has two (one red and one orange). I was able to find an ignition and turn signal schematic and found that the two open connectors are ground. However I'm not sure if that means that they provide ground or require ground. I'm guessing it wouldn't provide ground as there are no grounds going into the ignition box, unless the column itself is providing the ground.

My starter is hooked up exactly as it should be, but I suppose taking off the starter and connecting it straight to the battery to test the starter (worked fine a couple months ago)

Also, my turn signals give me absolutely no response. All lights work, my hazards work. I tested the actual relay connected for my blinker and it worked just fine. So my only next guess is to replace the turn signal band of wires. The connector right now is tight and matches each letter as it should.

Finally, I have a random wire question. I have a brown wire (Picture 3) that goes up into my driver side front post as shown below. It has a splitter and I think I recall it being connected to one of my middle male connectors on the fuse block (direct IGN or direct ACC). I think this must be a heat or A/C related item.

Any help would be amazing. Thanks everyone.

Any suggestions? As for the non-start, I plan on taking off the starter and bench testing that, after that I'm kinda stumped.

As for the turn signals, I swapped the relays (hazard to turn signal) and the hazards still work. The fact that the hazards work means that most of the harmonica works, so I'm wondering what else happens to the turn signal wires after it splits and heads over to passenger side under dash relay.

I'd take any help at all, try this try that I'd take any advice.

1st pic is the wiper door switch connector , not the clutch switch. Look for purple/white and purple wires.
3rd pic looks like the power window tap
Is the pink wire at the turn flasher hot with the key on ?

Roger thank you you're right I was confusing the window switch override with the clutch over ride. Guess I need to learn my colors. The clutch override was taped under the shifter console, came that way in the new harness. I bridged that and the car cranked for a few seconds, then back to zip. I'll have to check my grounds and contacts to see if something shook loose.

You were right about the brown wire, found it in the assembly manual in the accessories section.

I'll have to check on the turn signal later, but I did test and get power to the relay from one of the wires, I think it was the pink but cannot recall.

Thanks again Roger
