Default Gauge Issue

Soo, my blinkers have been a little funky ever since I got my car back together after the PO took it apart. My right side blinkers work fine, but when I turn my left blinker on, the blinkers work as they should, they do however flash a little faster than the right. Also, on the gauge, the bright indicator flashes instead of the blinker indicator. When the headlights are on, the bright indicator and the backlight for the speedo alternate flashes, and the bright indicator still functions as it should for the headlights. Any ideas???

It is likely that you do not have all the grounds connected.

Is it possible the grounds on the back of the gauges are messed up? The PO told me he painted the back of the gauges, which is a no-no.

Very possible. Or, those ground lugs may not have a wire connected to them at all...or not run to a good grounding point.

I recently had my dash out and the bulbs that illuminate the speedo, bright indicator, and turn indicators are all the same type of connector with different color leads. Are you sure the were reinstalled in the correct location. The back of the speedo has the color codes stamped in the casing. Also bad grounds can cause all kinds of strange things to light up when they are not supposed by feeding back power through different circuits. 90% of the time I find electrical issues can be solved by a thorough visual inspection.

Just noticed the part about painting the casing. I would clean the paint from around the hole where the light sockets go. That is where the ground completes the circuit. There is one ground wire that grounds the casing. I am assuming it is good or the lights would not even function in the wrong location.

If it's totally weird and what's happening makes no sense, it's a bad ground.
