TCS question - 70
I am in the process of getting my engine back in where it belongs and I do not have all of the pieces to the TCS system. I will get them but in the meantime what effect does it have on how the engine runs without it hooked up. Do I need to have the TCS in place to get it running properly. Clearly many (most?) cars have removed it and I don't know what effect that has or if I need to compensate in the adjustments.

Without getting too detailed, the TCS system is only for emissions control. It blocks manifold vacuum from allowing the distributor mechanism to advance timing in the lower transmission gears, unless at WOT (or if the engine is too hot or too cold). Unless you are working toward an award winning car (NCRS, Bloomington), you...and certainly your engine...is better off without that stuff.
