The dynomax's are cheaper, but from what I hear the hooker's are less restrictive due to larger primary tubes.

Unless you have/or are building something that needs those big tube headers, the Dynomax brand will work just fine. The cost is roughly half of what hooker wants and it seems like most people on this board who have purchased Dynomax are quite happy with them.

I'll give you a definite "Maybe."

All kidding aside, I've got Hookers and I really like them. There are others who are equally satisfied with Dynomax, Heddman and other brands. If I had it to do over, I'd get all the comments I could from the forum members, do a little research into performance and prices on the web, and then buy what I thought was the best combination of performance and price that I could afford. Would it be Hookers? Probably, because that's what I did the first time. :yesnod: You might come up with a differrent solution.

I've got Dynomax's on mine and the only problem I had was one of the pipes hit the Z-bar slightly. A few raps of a hammer and that was fixed. I can honestly say that the headers made a nice improvement in performance. For the money I don't think you can go wrong with Dynomax. Just make sure you get good gaskets to go along with them. I used the Percy's aluminum gaskets for the headers and collectors. Retighten all the bolts after every couple of hours of use for about the first two weeks and you should be in good shape. I also used the Stage 8 locking bolts. Here's a tip, don't put on the locks until your done retightening the bolts for a couple of weeks. They're a pain in the butt to put on and off.

I recently installed Hooker super comps and couldn't be happier. They went in very easy, plugs are reasonably accessable, and I ran wires vertically on outter edge of valve covers and dropped right onto plugs.

As of yet I have not seen an starter issues, tho it does look pretty close. I am still chasing a few gasket leaks, a couple of the bolts are tough to get on but all in all I am quite please. Coupled with true 2 1/2" pipes and flowmaster 50's. It has made the otherwise stock L48 pretty snappy

Another vote for Dynomax Headers. I've had them on my 79 for about 2 years now and am very pleased. I do recommend a set of ARP headers bolts and Metal header and collector gaskets.

Dynomax coated flow well beyond what is commonly known.
Several of us know. One ex. from someone else:

StingrayRacing
I think if you're under 500hp the Dynomax are fine...I made 445hp to the wheels with them...although we did open up the ports a bit.

As I said in another thread...I've got hooker headers and can't knock it. They are still affordable and not restrictive at all. I've only noticed a problem going over speed bumps but that's ok, you'd probably get that with any set of headers you put on the car.

I've got Dynomax's on mine and the only problem I had was one of the pipes hit the Z-bar slightly.
My Dynomax's fit great and cleared all parts with room to spare. The only problem I had was that I had to file one of the bolt holes to make the bolt fit. This was easy to do. I just had mine done about 7 weeks ago. I used Fel-Pro gaskets from summit FPP-1404 and they worked great with no leaks. I also used the 12 point ARP bolts from summit ARP-400-1201.

Hay Vettfixr what is A Z-Bar? Is that one of the supension or stearing parts?

Hay Justin look at MG62 post on his ZZ4. He has A pic there of some Dynomax headers on his new motor and they look good :yesnod: .

Zane, the Z-bar is the bar (lack of a better word) that is the common link between your clutch pedal rod and the linkage from the bell housing. Attaches to a support coming off the frame and to the engine block, pivots back and forth when clutch is depressed.
