I am planning to put my ebrake in working order (with stainless steel components), I have been without since 03. My question is; do I have to disconnect the brake line (on the TA) in order to move the caliper assy away from the rotor? Or can the caliper assy be safely moved by gently bending the steel brake line?
Hi phc,
I believe that if you remove the clip that holds the connection of the formed steel brake line and flex brake line to the trailing arm, you'll be able to safely move the caliper around.

What percentage of old Corvettes have working e-brakes?
hey alan, i have the ss e-brakes and have had them adjusted correctly....but they still wont stop the car. also have the orig clock and it works...but the second hand fell off. and the low fuel warning light works too, but it seems to glow more than I care to see it.
Hi Mooser,
I didn't mean to be an 'echo'.
STILL a slow typist after all these years. But the boss hired me to be his secretary 40 years ago because of my great legs, not because I could type.

Alan
Hi d,
If the second hand is still there I'll bet it could be CAREFULLY pushed back on.
I'd say that the e-brake was designed to hold the car on the level REAL well, on a hill KINDA well, and to SLOW the car.... not so well!
If you strap two 5 Gallon gas cans to the rear deck and use some garden hose, the low fuel light won't glow so often!

Alan

Hi Alan
Your answer came 3 minutes later because you actually put thought into it and made sure it made sense and was correct whereas I usually just type out the first thing I think of and hit submit
Mooser
I don't think these things could ever be defined as an emergency-brake, maybe a parking-brake. There is not enough brake pad there to stop a go kart and I'm not sure it was ever designed to do any stopping.
