head lamp light
There's a switch on each of the headlight mechanisms that's triggered when the doors are fully open, and turn the dash light off.
Some times the button on the switch isn't being pushed far enough, and sometimes the switch is not functioning.
Be careful working on it... it's plastic and very fragile.
Good Luck.

Alan
It's in the center of this picture. It has a small button on it's side that the 'arm' pushes when the door opens fully.
The switches work by removing continuity when they are pressed. Continuity is also removed when a switch is not present. So, if one of the switches is broken, then removing it will allow the system to function off the remaining switch. Remove both, and the light will never come on - but if you do that, make sure the headlights are locking properly, otherwise you might get a nasty surprise if your car ever stalls while driving down a dark country road some night.
