My '68 427/400 tri power sat in the garage for about a month. Was running as a Swiss clock before. Now it runs rough and the front carb is flooding big time. What could be the issue? Never had this problem before, so I am a bit confused!
I have had that happen twice on my GTO, both times one of the brass floats had a pinhole leak and no longer floated thereby causing the needle to stay open.
My car had the same symptom as yours and I changed out all of the needle seat O rings and it is not flooding anymore. I had so much gas pouring into the carbs I had to change the oil. Runs good now.
No, I did not. I understand, that for some it might seem like guiding a blindman over internet, but I never had any carb-related issues in the past, so no chance for practice
Anyhow, as I understand, to check the needle and clear any debris, I need to unscrew the flat bolt on top of the carb, and then I will be able to pull the needle out?
Yes loosen the screw on top and count the number of threads that are showing so when you put it back in it will be close. When I took mine out the O ring was hard and flat and was not sealing sending alot of the fuel into the carb. Check out this web site on how to take it out. Hope this helps
