I've installed the new booster and master on a 70, using the two lower bolts holes as the guide for the two lower booster holes, and drilled two new upper holes using the booster gasket as a template. Looking at the holes from the dash side, they appear to be in the right spots on the metal support bracket.
The problem is that bracket/pin for the booster is about 1/2" higher than the hole in the brake pedal. I'm not sure what I need to do to hook up the pedal...redrill the hole on the brake pedal or remount the booster or ???
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
When you install power brakes the braket is 1 inch lower then the non-power brakes. The brake light switch also gets moved. It is impossible to drill new holes in the brake pedal arm without removeing the assembly and that is a whole new problem. I went from manual to power brakes and found the holes already in the fire wall.
Re: Power brake conversion problem (LeAnn82Collector)
You need to trade hol es on the brake pedal. The Brake rod now in the lower hole and brakelight bracket (new one for power brakes) in the upper hole. Zips or CC should have them.
Re: Power brake conversion problem (norvalwilhelm)
To get more leverage for manual brakes they mount the rod 1 inch higher or closer to the pivot point for the brake peddle. With power brakes the activation rod is moved down or closer to your foot by 1 inch and the brake light switch is mounted in the old hole above the new mounting hole for the power brakes.
Confussed yet? I am getting there myself.
