Hi O7,
The 71 AIM shows the "piercing" location for each pin and the dimensions relative to each other but the location of the holes overall is based on body jig dimensions that the plant had, but we don't. There's no reference to the fender, door, or wheel opening, so it's not much help.
Maybe the 75 AIM is different?
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
I can post the page this evening, but I am willing to bet you'll be disappointed. I suspect you want hole center dimensions for drilling your own mounting holes. The AIM shows measurements without specifically telling you where to put them.
Mike beat me to the picture... The reason there is no measurement about location is because the fenders already had dimples in them for emblem location.
I can get you a measurement tomorrow... I've got car we are parting out that will give up this info easily.
I measured this morning and did three fenders. Good news is I feel sure of the measurement from the back of the fender forward all were 8.50" from the rear edge of the fender. But that is where they stopped and what varied was the height of the emblem off the side fender cove. Unfortunately I left the info on my office desk in error.
I'll try to post the different measurements tomorrow.
I thought that GM quit drilling holes for those in the early 70's and just put tape on the back side??? Can someone confirm that the '75 fenders were actually drilled for the script logos?
Oldguard.. I will post the measurements I took tonight.. They may be right.. But it will give us a starting point that maybe someone else could verify.
The "15" and "-5" numbers shown are the reference location if I remember correctly. What you need is the location that is the zero refernce location for water line (15) and bulkhead (-5). I don't know where the datums are. A frame layout I have a copy of uses a datum that is 15 5/8 inches below the top surface of the front body mount on the frame. The fore-aft datum uses a hole in the frame that is 23 3/4 inches aft of the front of the frame, or 17 1/8 inches forward of the forward body mount.
These are the measurements I took off the 1976. A legal sheet of paper was taped to the horizontal edge on the top of the side cove... All measurements are from this cove horizontal line and upward.
As you can see from the data there seems to be something wrong with this. What I need is someone to look at their car.. I'd be afraid to use these and the only hole that I know 100 percent is the 8.5 " from the fender to the first stud.
