Exhaust hanger location (drooping exhaust)
The dual exhaust on my ’79 is only suspended in two locations on each side:
(1) At the transmission crossmember
(2) At rear pipes on the rear end of the mufflers
In spite of using jack stands to hold everything in place and having all the clamps and hangers tight, it still drops back down after a few miles of driving. I need at least one additional hanger on each side, preferably somewhere near the rear spring.
Anyone have any photos or a description on where I can add an additional pair (or more) of hangers?
Thanks.

You either need to weld the pipes together so they don't shift around or add another hanger somewhere ahead of the mufflers.

I have a 78 with true dual exhausts with clamps nothing else. You said after driving they droop so it sounds like the pipe is not inserted far enough and the clamp is not tight. I had the exact same problem and really needed to tighten the clamp without breaking the nut off.
When you jack the pipe up do you see any movement at the
connection ? exhaust leak?
There is no reason for it to move unless it's loose. Just get it welded. With more hangers you are just holding up a leaking connection not fixing it.

When I had headers and dual exhaust on my black79(I've since gone back to stock) I added "universal" hangers(the simple rubber straps with several holes in em and a metal hook on the end).
Used one of the factory dual strap hanger holes from the convertor/y-pipe hanger on the passenger side and drilled a corresponding hole on the driver side(there MAY actually have been a hole there, it was a long time ago).
Added a little rigidity to the system.
You can almost make it out in this pic, at least the general location......

I just installed the Corvette Central dual exhaust on my 75. The PO had installed some extra hangers and to avoid the potential to have the system droop, I reused them. Hope this helps.

The factory only had hangars at the transmission and at the mufflers. I have the Corvette Central system on my '79 and haven't had a problem. I suspect you don't have the clamps tight enough. They need to be tight enough to visibly crush the pipe.
