Default 3/4-1" rubber piece???

Another crazy question, while pulling out the carpet out of the rear compartment (passenger side) I found a piece of rubber(?) about 6"x6" just behind the window about head high. When I checked the other side no rubber piece?? Any ideas what this is for? Also, when replacing the drain hoses for the rear vents, should I extend them a little further that just even with the fender well?

Hi Tom,
Perhaps you found the "lock pillar pads".
They're shown very early in the AIM, UPC1-Bolt/Weld, Sheet B9.
Regards,
Alan

The drain hose has a flange on it that goes against the fender well, it`s not just a piece of hose that you can extend. Then there`s a metal piece that goes on the outside of that....
Willcox has these....

Note that he smaller end of the hose goes into the hole from the outside, so that the flange is in the fenderwell, then the metal piece goes over it. Not sure if that part was clear in my first post? I believe they were originally riveted on, but I hear some say they replace them with stainless steel bolt & nut, which is what I plan to do.

Yes, that's what I've got left. I guess the rivets rotted off. I can see where water off of the tires could be forced past the rubber ends and into the rear compartment
