Default turbo charging

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if anyone had ever turbo charged or supercharged there C3, I have a GM performance 350 crate motor in right now, but I'm always looking for more power. I was hoping to keep the kit to $2500 or so, but if there is a reliable kit cheaper, then that of course would be prefered. I can do all the install and fab work myself if needed, but I'm having a hard time finding a kit.

I don't know if there will be any kits available, turbo's aren't as popular in the C3 arena. I have seen a few here:

I would imagine Jim's budget was a little over $2500, but you never know. Really impressive work though. I seem to recall someone else selling a black turbo'd C3 a few months ago on here. Sounds like a fun project though. Oh, and welcome!

For that kind of money, a small blower might be a better choice for you. Turbos have a lot of other "issues" that have to be dealt with. A small blower will be a much simpler install and less total cost.

A blower is also definetly an option, but I have had the same issue of finding a kit or really any information on them aswell, do you have any suggestions for a supplier?

Turbos are more efficient than mechanical superchargers (and the packaging is usually lighter too). There's also a wide range of turbo sizes to customize any application. As long as you have a decent sized radiator to deal with the extra horsepower you're making, and some heat wrap for the turbo housing, underhood heat is not that big of a deal.
Once you've felt the pull of an engine under boost you'll be hooked.

Boost is addicting for sure.
Look into the Weiand 144 or 177 blowers?
4-6 lbs of boost doesnt sound like much but your motor should handle it and will feel like you dropped a 2nd engine in it.

Going with a Blower or Turbo has been a long standing argument ever since they were invented. On both systems they can be Blow threw or Suck threw. In other words the Fuel sorce ( Carb or Injector) can be either before or after the Compressor. When useing a Carb on a Turbo if its before the Turbo it adds to Turbo Lag and if it after then You have a Carb thats intended to operate under a Vacume that is now working under pressure. A Carb is nothing more than a controled Fuel Leak and pressureised its nothing more than a Fuel Leak out of control. Both ways have been made to work but they both have short falls. On a Blown Motor a Carb can be mounted on top of the Blower and be compact and no Lag. So now lets throw in Fuel Injection, this changes the playing field as the injector dosn't care if its in a pressurized spot or not. The Turbocharger has always been more efficiant than a Blower just try to find a modern Diesel thats not Turbo'd. However the latest Blowers are better than ever, enough so that GM changed the new ZR-1 Corvette from being a Turbo to a Blower design. Factor in Your $2500 buget, thats not even going to cover a FI setup for a Turbo, so ifs its going to have a Carb, I'd go with a Blower. With FI, I'm a fan of Turbocharging.
