Default Correct Spark Plug gap!

The manual that I have states that the Correct Spark Plug gap for my car is 0.060? Is this correct! If not what would be my optimal setting? Im replacing my plugs with AC Rapid Fire #10 Thanks!

1 manual says .035 up till 74, 75-76 at .060 and 77-82 at .045 and a 2nd one says the same. Go figure I just thought .040 was it  I guess I better read closer next time. I'd go the .045 which seems what they want for an HEI ignition system.

Rapid-Fires are pre-gapped at .045 and are recommended to be run at that.

When HEI was introduced in '75 GM speced .060 in a misguided attempt at lowering emissions. Not only did the emission not decrease, but they also had problems with misfires at such a big gap. They corrected it after 2 years and ever since they have speced .045-.050 for pretty much any engine.

So in short, I'd go with .045.

i would agree with the above unless you have a :mad aftermarket ignition. the hotter the coil the bigger the gap. i run my plugs at .075" and i know people with MSDs that run similar. :chevy
