Does anyone here plan to attend Hot August Nights in Reno?
For those of you not familiar with it - we have a week long celebration with thousands of cars from the beginning of time up to 1972 entered in ctuises, show & shines, etc around town. Needless to say there are always lots of Corvettes. There are also free street concerts in numerous venues. It's like a giant block party but encompasses the whole town.
This year it's Aug. 3-11. Most of the action takes place from Thurs. to Sun. It has a limit of 5,000 registerd vehicles. None older than '72 can register. Because our '81 is too new, we take the Cobra. Have been there the last three years in a row. It's the mega car show of the west.
Yes, I have attended for 13 years now, however have only participated for 2 as they changed from pre 69 to pre 72. I drive up in my fully restored 70 impala conv. (holds 6 and the luggage too) I stay at the reno hilton as that seems to be the center of all events, registration ect. To anybody that has never been, you should go at least once. Every year I see something unusual that makes it worthwhile. (next year I hope to drive the Vette)
Right after you go to this event cruise on over to this one Woodward Dream Cruise this is always one to see. It's good that cruising is making a comeback, still there are too many places that the old farts have passed stupid laws banning it.
They are full as far as being a registered entry but that doesn't prevent you from having fun. You can't drive in the controlled cruises but many just drive around town during the event in their pre 72's anyway. I'm sure there's still hotel rooms.
