OK, got the pan in. test fitted the rack .It fits with only about 1/4 inch gap. I really thought there would be like an inch.Hmm
Curious to know how much space a factory pan would have, as that is what the system is designed for. Remember mine is a bit deep with the 383 crank.
I have Hooker side pipes, so a cut will be in order. I knew this going into the project.
Since the Pan question has been answered. i should probably start a another thread for the rack install.

I purchased the Milodan 31503 pan (circle track pan) because of its dimensions - doesn't interfere with the steering on my '72 small block. I also ordered the suggested Milodan one piece gasket (thick front) but the gasket leaked at front seal. I checked to verify I received the correct gasket. per the package it was. Replaced it with the far superior Felpro one piece (thick) gasket and all is well.
The pan comes with an additional, removeable windage tray for racing but I removed it for my driving style. If you purchase this pan use a Felpro!!
