I need to replace the trailing arm bushings (or whats left of them). Since time is a real issue for me I think I would like to replace the trailing arm. Can anyone give me some feedback on whether I should use OEM's or an offset trailing arm that I see in the catalogs that will let me run a larger rear tire???
If you intend to run a rear tire much wider than a 255, you may want to spend extra for the offset arms. I had 255-60R-15's on my '74 years ago with no rear tire clearance issues. In the front they would just kiss the frame at full lock. I found that the really wide tires would follow every groove in the pavement. I was always fighting the steering.
I switched to the 225-70R-15's and found the steering feel was much nicer. When those wore out I tried the 235-60R-15 Firestone tires. Not bad.

If your going to run wide tires you can just relocate the emergency bracket to the top of the trailing arm on stock arms, I did that on mine. If I go any wider the tire hits my frame before it hits the trailing arm.
it's not a huge deal to slice a bit off the TAs, reinforce them, then run a wider tire (I have pictures if you're interested). You only need to shave 1/2" off (it's all you can go as you'll be flush with the frame) and move the brake cable bracket
I run a 285/40 ZR 17 on mine with 4.5 offset TT2s
However, if your arms are crap - then offsets are the way to go
