Default Won't start

Put in battery after car would't start, does this sound like the starter? There isn't even a click and won't turn over.

Starter solenoid maybe. Are you getting power to the starter? That would be my first check. Did you have any issues prior to this or did you go out one day and it didn't work so you bought a new battery and replaced it?

check the ground connection under the car on the frame, and try putting it in neutral, or move the shifter back and forth. it may be the neutral safety switch.

Get a voltmeter and see if you have power to your starter. If not, check your grounds and fuseable link going to the starter.

I tapped the starter with a hammer but it won't engage all the way, replaced the starter

Why are you hitting your starter with a hammer?
I'm assuming you have power to the starter and it is not engaging the flywheel when you say it won't "engage all the way," correct?

Since you replaced the starter, does it work now? If not, think you need to go through some troubleshooting processes and not just replace parts. Could get very expensive.

I just went through the same thing. I thought I had a bad battery, but that wasn't it. I pulled out the original starter and had it rebuilt......No problems anymore...
