If it's like my 75, there is a soft cover over the mirror bracket and then just a screw to remove the retainer.

Hi 55p,
I believe '75 is right.
There's a soft vinyl cover over the mirror mount. The cover has 'tabs' that slip under the header trim to hold it in place.
When you gently remove the cover you'll see the mirror mount.
If you can't get the 'tabs' loose you'll need to remove the interior header trim. This isn't too bad a job since all the screws are visible. You will need to unscrew the mounts for the sun visors though.
