Default Engine build

Hi,

I would like to build a "new" engine for my car.
I have a 69, 4 speed, 3,70

The engine block is a L46, std bore size, 4 bolt.

I do have (new parts):
Brodix IK180 heads.
EZ-EFI FAST injection.
Edelbrock 2601 intake
Comp cams RPM 1416-16 (1,6) rocker arms
Comp cams 12-466-8 cam
Comp cams retro hydr lifters 853-15

What I would like is a fast 0-60 car, with a fast speeder response.

I don't want a China build, I would like to buy parts in and a good quality, also prefure "made in USA" parts.

Can anyone tell me a good engine build/setup with the above parts, and tell me what else to buy, so I will have good engine?

Thanks.

Looks like you've already gotten it all picked out. I've not had time to look up the cam. What are the specs.

always buy the cam last when building a engine.check out Competition Products for prices on rotating assemblies.consider a 383 stroker ,using your current block.

I agree completely. It's only more money and very well worth while. What compression ratio you plan on running?

I prefer picking the cam to suit the rpm range and cubic combined with cyl head choice , then buy pistons of the correct compression for the cam and dcr.

Pump gas, 10:1

I don't know if I must go for a 383 or keep it 350?

If I go for a 383, what stroker set must I buy?

I have headers and 2½" exhaust

Taking a look at the valve lift of the selected cam, it's fairly aggressive. The IK180 specs show that those heads are good for about a little over .5 lift. With that cam, I would have selected heads with more flow.
Also, going to a 383 crank setup will add serious HP

Please help me understand how I can see the flow from camshaft (please telle me here I can see the flow for my camshaft)

Also what cylinder heads will give the best flow, of a engine build like my engine build?

Also can anyone recommend a good 383 crank setup? (pump gas, 10:1)
I would like the engine to take the RPM fast !!

Try the Brodix website, they have flow charts for their cylinder heads.
http://www.brodix.com/heads/ik.php
When you look at the IK180 numbers, the .5 valve lift is 243 cfm with the .6 lift at 245 cfm. You need feedback from the cam experts on the forum to tell you how your cam is going to work with this combo.
The 2601 is a dual plane manifold, so that may work in your favor if your looking for the low end, off the line power.

Lets say you couldnt return any parts you have

I would order up a 383 crate shortblock minus the cam youll want stroker rods that hopefully clear..always double check.

If you got a local shop to give some love to those heads (porting) pay attn to the exh side esp youll have a strong runner on your hands. It should smoke the tires at will

Tuning will get you the quick response youre after.
You wont go back to a 350 after having the 383.

Google Vortecpro see what Mark can do for you, sterling reputation and reasonable. Probably best to send him your cam etc have him fit it all up measure pushrods set up springs etc.

The best way for an engine to rpm fast is to use a lightweight and balanced rotating assembly; flywheel/or flexplate, crank, rods, pistons and pins, rings, harmonic damper, and even front pulley.

A shorter lobe seperation cam will also rpm faster.
