On my block i noticed that the lifter holes along the top edges have a sharp edge. My concern is that they would be very effective at scraping oil off of the lifter each time it descended into the hole. I'm installing roller lifters if it makes any difference.
Think I should chamfer the edges a little?
What you feel with your finger is the flesh getting pressed into that hole...THEN you feel the sharp edge. The outside diameter of the lifter is ground 'true'; there is no raised metal on that diameter, so there is nothing to "scrape" with. It is fine the way it is...that's how it was designed.
P.S. If you 'break' the edge on that hole, or round it, or bevel it, that will just leave an avenue for dirt/carbon/etc particles to collect. For proper function, it's best that there is no "recess" at the edges of those oil holes.
