Putting new tires on this week and just wanted to get everyone's opinion...White letters facing out, or in.. I've noticed most C3s have the white letters facing out... Thoughts?...
I like the white letters facing out
so I looked at swapping mine around as the PO had them facing in.....why ???
cause he'd pretty much erased the lettering by banging the curbs.
When I finally get around to replacing mine (if I can find some)
they'll definitely be letters facing out.
Cheers,
Gav
It depends on the brand/type of tire and what condition the lettering is in. If it's a decent brand of tire and letters in good condition....letters out. And use Wesley's Bleach White to keep them looking good.
Hi,
I agree that white letters out looks period typical for the 68+ cars.
I believe what made people start to turn the letters in was the wording that began to appear on aftermarket tires of that period.
Pretty silly sounding things like SUPER GRABBER WIDE TREADS for example.
Sometimes subtle is better!

Alan

Depends on the rims (modern billets may not look right)
Some are too busy, brands nobody has heard of, etc.

I agree with 7T1Vette and Alan....it really depends on what brand of tire you have to show off. With the dwindling selection of tire brands out there to fit our original wheels, some of the names out there sound kinda "lame".
I like the look of the white letters BUT it also depends what those letters are - I just can't bring myself to displaying "Cooper Cobra" on the sidewalls of my Vette even though that's about one of the least "offensive" ones out there.......
