Default need help with my 81!

I recently bought a '81 that is all original...but suffered some post nasty divorce injurys during the battle over custody....my main issue is the carb and intake were removed and are long gone, anyway ive sourced the carb and intake but hope somebody could post some close up pics regarding the hose an sensor hookups for a factory installation? I am unsure about what sensors go where on the intake most of all... Any help would be very appreciated!

There is a lot of assorted plumbing on an 81 intake. You do have a couple of temperature sensors to hook up, but far more vacuum hoses and switches. You might want to get an AIM ( assembly manual). It'll help give you an idea of all the parts involved.

If you can post a picture (s) we might figure out what gets connected to it.

Are you going back with a 'stock' setup, or just a normal 4-bbl, intake and distributor? I'm pretty sure you know that the '81 engine had a one-year-only induction and ignition system.

If you are returning to the stock set up. the 81 assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows everything you're asking about.

Im going back to lets say "as stock as possible" for the moment...in other words I grabbed the aluminum intake (which has all the same necessary ports and such as the 81 vette intake) from a 1983 Grand Prix with a factory 305 sbc...along with the computer HEI and Quadrajet carb. The casting numbers will not be the same as the 81's obviously but the parts will function the same as the OEM parts that were stripped off my Vette. The one issue im having is which sensors and vacuum switches go where...or what ones I need to purchase to make itr as factory as possible? And for the record the thermostat housing has the two ports on it...as well as the port on the intake just to the right of the thermo.

As you stated the '81 was a one year only setup induction and ignition wise regarding the 'Vette...but was commonplace among the rest of the sbc powered GM cars of the early to mid '80's.

I hear ya...but IMO it would be much easier to figure out if someone here posted a pic of an assembled 81 with the air cleaner removed...ideally showing the details of the intake from the carb forward...lol!

By the way I have some old sensors, relays, and wiring for the underhood CCC system. Let me know what you need.

The main components of that system are the carb, distributor, the computer module, the oxygen sensor, and wiring harness. Those need to be the correct part numbers (carb from another 'similar' GM vehicle may work the same) or I'm not sure they will all link when connected. If any one of the main components is 'different' or not compatible with the '81 computer, it won't work as intended. It will just default to a basic programming mode and run poorly (if at all).
