I am a new member and the proud owner of an early 68 convertible. I'm planning to restore the gunmetal vinyl interior and would appreciate any tips on top manufacturers of seat covers, rear 1/4 panel trim and carpet sets. I looked at the Romeo Engineering web site and thought their carpets sounded very original but they don't seem to answer their phone and their email is disfunctional as well, anyone know what gives with them? Thanks for any info:
Hi bm,
Many people find Romeo pretty frustrating to deal with. I bought a set of their carpets for my 71 but decided not to use them because of the quality, and also it's differences from what GM used originally.
I think the carpet sets made by Al Knock are very good. That's what I ended up using.
There are only a couple of carpet set manufacturers, but many venders that distribute them. So it's always wise to ask the vender who's carpet you'll be getting so you can compare quality and price.
I also think that the Knock seat covers rate very good too.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

I've heard many good things about Al Knoch as well...I just finished installing an ACC carpet set in my '70 and while it was not easy I am very happy with the results.
I bought a seat cover set from Dr. Rebuild some years ago...very good also.

IMO Al Knoch is the way to go for accurate, correct interior components. I have used them for many years on every restoration I have done from solid axles to mid years and C3's
Hi James,
cv is right that the 80/20 was the standard carpet for 72; but quite a few cars had had the Custom Trim as an option, which included the cut pile carpet.

Thanks very much for the info, I already have the Knoch door panels and it sounds like I'll be purchasing the carpets and seat covers from them as well.
Completely agree with the Al Knoch recommendation. They just did my seats on my '70 back to factory spec and they look incredible. Carpet, I bought some through Willcox but I believe it was from Corvette America or Corvette Central.
With interior parts, well, the motto is keep and restore whatever you can. Most re-pop stuff, especially plastic panels are absolute junk and can take ages to customize to fit.
Would be better to find original and restore, IMHO.
