Default 1975 front end

Hey guys,
I am new to the forum but I recently acquired a 1975 stock corvette. It is in pretty decent condition except for one thing, it suffered a slow collision in the front and back by being on wheel dollies and having a truck back into it and not notice until it hit a wall.

So the problem is everything from the doors back to the replacement bumper I got with it is alright. but the entire front clip is cracked all over the place from the collision.

I know on the 75s at least that the front end comes in three pieces but I see front ends on ecklers and other various places that come in one piece. Any help I can get would be great, I have pictures on my phone but will have to wait until I can pull them off.

Right now the plan is to pull the front clip off and take a look at what damage was done, I do hate to say it but I am not trying to keep it completely factory(As factory as I can but at the same time doing some mods of my own.) has anyone had much luck with one piece stock bodies from any corvette sites or what would be a better recommendation?

How much damage do you actually have? You might be able to make repairs without swapping an entire clip.

Default ouch!

I would suggest order the fiberglass repair cd's GlassRa if you plan to fix it yourself. The CD's are not cheap, ck Corvette Central, but it will give you some great education on what is involved, assuming only the fiberglass is messed up.

Best of luck and hope this helps.

I don't see enough damage to explain to my wife why I had to spend 4grand on a clam front end

Is there any damage on the sides? I don't see a whole lot, just get a new bumper of your choice, while you at it glass the bumper gap over...

Unless there is damage you have not showed us, you do not need an entire clip. Corner cracks at the hood can be repaired and the low section in front of the hood can be raised. Bumper cover mount area can be repaired. You will need a bumper cover.

If you are uncomfortable with repair work, you could replace the hood surround panel. Fenders and fender skirts should not need replacement unless there is damage not shown in your pics.

The Glas-Ra series is reasonably good.

Default A few more

There are a few more cracks in the fenders(Not as bad as the rest) The drivers side headlight assembly is pretty loose right now or possibly broken. If I need I found this, but just in an opinion would this help my problem or no? http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1975-1979.html

This is all you actually need as far as fiberglass is concerned:
http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1975-1982.html

Here are 81s being readied for paint at St. Louis. You can see where the fenders are bonded to the hood surround panel. Your car is bonded in exactly the same place under the paint. Crawl under a front wheel well and you will see the bonding strips.

Ah, so it is three parts then, I was under the assumption that it was almost unibody as it was. what are all the parts to the front end then? Hood surround, bumper and what else? Sorry this is my first take at a restoration.

Here's a page from one of the vendor's fiberglass front end parts list:

http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette...-419-9373.html

As you can see they also offer 1 piece front ends, but if you want to go that route, I think you'd be better off finding a factory front clip off a car someone is parting out.

Order the assembly instruction manual (AIM). It shows the various separate pieces which make up the front clip. You're going to want the AIM for way more than body work.
