I did a search, but couldn't find an answer to this--the left headlight has been slow to rise (when the engine is revving, it rises OK, but at a warm idle, it needs assistance). This evening, the car was driven and the left headlight was helped up... But it won't go back down (the right side does), and it's up solid, ie, there's no pushing it down easily.
I did find the post that goes thru the headlight system, and obviously need to trouble shoot the issue and fix it (relay? actuator?), but is there a relatively simple way to get the headlight down until I get to working on it? I can't really cover it very well with it as is...

Thanks.
There is a pivot joint that locks into place in the up position. Just reach up and break it down.
Great--thank you so much! I'll get out there in the morning and take a look around and see if I can find the pivot joint.
The easiest way to lower the headlight is to supply vacuum to the correct port of the headlight actuator.
Disconnect the hose fro the acturator, connect a hand vacuum pump and lower it!
you probably have a vacuum relay leaking (that will cause you also misfire at idle).
H DS,
Using womb's method you want to pull forward and down at the point that the headlight warning switch mounts to the mechanism.... but DON'T pull on the switch itself. It's made of plastic and pretty easy to break....pull on the part that the switch mounts to.
I actually pull on the rod that that's right above the switch; the one that the 4 springs attach to.
Regards,
Alan
You can see the wire running to the switch in the center of this picture
