Rear Bumper Letter Install
Hi All,
I need to install the C O R V E T T E rear bumper letters. The letters did not come with screws or locking nuts for the back of the letters. Does anyone know how to install the letters on the rear bumper?
Thanks

Hi Rodney, You would use "speed nuts" for them.

Hi Rodney,
I'm not sure what year you're working on?
Through 73 each letter had 2 posts, and there were 2 holes in the fiberglass for each letter.
One post was short and was just used to keep the letter in alignment, while the longer post extended through the fiberglass and received the speed nut.
Regards,
Alan

I agree with Alan. The longer, bigger pin on the rear of the letter gets a speed nut. The shorter, smaller pin only locates the letter and does not get a speed nut.
The 74 letters may be different and one year only. Check the 74 AIM.

I believe that 'barrel nuts' were used sometimes. They just get pushed into each hole, then you press the letters/pins into the barrel-nuts. They work like a Chinese finger 'handcuff'...you can push it in with no problem; but it tightens more when you try to pull it out.
I have seen them advertised in the Original Parts Group parts catalogs (www.opgi.com).
