I installed Huron tubular header side exhaust on my 1971 corvette.i was so much aware of burning my legs getting out of car then one day I took my son for a ride for ten miles and arrived at my house. He gets out of car before me and put his legs right against headers.he says nothing!,,, as I yell to warn him." Dad what are you talking about I could put my hands on them! I put my hands on headers------- I be dammed they were warm but not enough to burn you. I don't know if it is the fiberglass inserts r what but all these years and myth dispel. tremendous horse per gain along with performer manifold and Holley carb, and HEI
dist.Base engine could not even break 225/70 wheels lose now she feels great.
Those pipes sure look nice! It is a little strange about lack of heat. Maybe a result of no prolonged highway speeds (higher constant rpm) and the looks of your cold weather during your 10 mile trip? BTW - what do folks with side pipes do to keep rocker moldings clean? Looks like that would be a challenge.
My 1967 corvette had hooker and my1965 had factory so I expected the same problems.(i am giving you my honest humble opinion ) forget everything you have ever seen or heard this is the real deal.first of all the hooker will rust at the insert seam in time they are chrome these are 100% stainless steel with fiberglass inserts.nothing to maintain ,there is a 1/2" space along inside of side pipe to rocker panel ,very easy to clean.primary tubes are 17/8" --------- the real deal!!! For small block . Incredible workmanship,3/8" thick flange even has welded button for you guys with exhaust sensor.i think the air circulating entirely around pipe and fiberglass insert must keep these pipe hot to touch but not burn you.even on sensitive calf area.they are half the price of the other guys they have a ad on this site. Huron
Most likely the rust on the 1967 was due to the fact my house is water view ,salt water and chrome not good.basicly where the four tubes are welded into the collector .they would burn your legs in a second.i had three 1967 all big blocks with and without sidepipes the heat in the coupe was bad without sidepipes they definitely take heat from interior.U17 that is a impressive set up ,real nice.
