Default power steering leaks

I decided to make it my mission this year to stop as many leaks as I can, my steering ram was leaking so I replaced that, than the return hose was leaking, so I replaced all four hoses, now it seems I am getting power steering fluid coming out the control valve cap (mine never had a dust cap until the other day, while fixing everything I decided to put one on), does this mean a new control valve is next?? can fluid leak out of the dust cap? thanks

All of the C3 P/S components have high pressure oil running through them. And, that oil has to be sealed-in, or you end up with a leak. Rubber seals (even good ones) get old and/or wear over the years.

The power cylinder could have had a simple reseal job at the 'business' end where the ram extends. That seal set costs about $10. The control valve can be rebuilt for about $20, if you DIY. If you decide to get an exchange/rebuild it will cost over $100.

With as many leak areas showing up, it's probably time to re-seal all of those components. Jim_Shea has some good rebuild information available. Perhaps someone with the web info can "steer" you in the right direction (pun intended).

There is a seal behind the dust cap so a leak can develop there. You must be very careful greasing the control valve as pressure from the grease can cause the unit to start leaking. The engine should be running when it's greased and one shot is ample.
