Turn Signal Replacement

I need to replace my turn signal on a 79 ... Im guessing it was an early model type with the slight bend. Is it possible to replace it with a straight later model type ? Also the signal arm is still inside the column and works left and right but is hanging .... can this be fixed and or secured without replacing it ?

My current signal with the bend is in the steering column and does activate left and right .. but is not in its place. I know some others have posts about this kind of thing but im thinking about swapping it out altogether.
