I was replacing my plug wires today. I've owned the car for many years and I'm about the lose my mind.
Wire I was changing the plug wires, I heard a chime (soft tone) like if my doors were opened or keys are in the ignition etc. This car never ever made any chime noise before so I do not know if it buzzes or chimes in certain circumstances.
It made 4 soft tone chimes and went away. I checked to see if my key were in the ignition, no. I checked to see my light switch was pulled, no. I both of my doors were closed and only thing that was open was the hood. Perhaps I thought it came from my neighbor's car, went out of the garage and both of my neighbor's car is not in the drive way.
Since my wife is at work, I had my 3 year old daughter in the garage with me. Far as I can remember ever since we got in the garage, she was constantly trying to speak to something but it was not me and continued to have a gibberish conversation of some sort. By this time, I am baffled and little spooked.
We moved in to this house last October and I have been spooked several times. Biggest one I can recall is that I have old grand father clock my dad gave me. This clock is broken but I intended to fix it because it cost my dad close to 4K back in 1983 and it's a beautiful piece of art. Back in November during Thanksgiving time, this clock rang it's bell 3 times by itself around 1 am. It spooked me big time because when I checked the clock, bell was set to "Silent" mode instead "Strike" and pendulum and weights are not on the clock.
Did C3 ever have soft tone chimes for any warning etc? Mine is 1974 and this is absolutely the first time I've ever heard this.
Am I loosing my mind? Please someone tell me 1974 Vette has a chime feature.
This is the grand father clock my dad gave me. Ever since the bell incident, I've installed the pendulum and the weight to duplicate or even have the clock run with no avail. It has not rung since back in November.
No. Buzzer only for a key in the ignition, engine off, and driver's door open.
Unless a PO swapped the buzzer for a chime tone generator. Dunno how that might work.
When we moved from Puerto Rico to Louisiana, we rented a house that was obviously haunted. I never gave ghosts much thought before that. Of the many things that happened in that house, and there were many, one of them was that a beautiful Coo Coo clock that my wife had f/ many years started working as soon as we moved in. We moved from Texas (where we had the clock f/ many years and it was a pretty fixture on the wall, made in Germany and hand-carved) to Puerto Rico and there again we hung the clock on the wall in the kitchen. I tried to fix it afew times but it was so complex, all mechanical, that I didn't want to get too deep into it. Three years later we moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, actually Bossier City, same thing, and here this clock started working just fine. The house had been really taken care of, many mods and done right, and two people had died in it, two different men, the landlord's first husband and her brother. Every night someone would walk down the hallway and into the bathroom, the piano stool would bang the piano and it was always two feet away from it. One night there was a bang on the roof so hard that it cocked the ceiling fan up sideways. I went outside and there was nothing. As we were lying in bed right after, there were foot steps going around our ceiling and I figured someone must have gotten up there thru the carport when we were out. I called the police and nothing up there but dust. The older policeman said that he had been at that house afew years prior f/ the very same thing. My daughter was 5 then and she used to say that she felt someone watching her while in the dining room-she wasn't afraid and she knew nothing about the haunting-we never mentioned it around the kids, and they were young then. I did see, out of the corner of my eye at about 3am one time, a person go thru the kitchen and into the piano room, but when I went out there, no one was there. It was nothing spooky, just so much going on. My keys would be one place and then another, the bathroom light would get shut off when my wife was in the shower. I could go on and on. You may just have one of those type houses. LOL!

God gawd. If those episode happened at my home, I'll be getting the "F" out.
It was more mysterious than disturbing. Ask some of your neighbors who have lived in the neighborhood for awhile. They may know about the history of the house.
***The house in the background of my avatar is the house in Louisiana I'm referring to, a well kept 4 bedroom house.
