The extra block is about another $800 bucks.

The 383 Stroker Kits are from different manufactures and can be priced from between $600 to $1000 bucks depending on the kit and who is the manufacture.
one if the other two 350s I have built I used the summit top end kit and it was pretty powerful for the price. SME-K-355-400 they advertise this with some pretty good numbers and it seemed to have some good punch. granted as far as longevity goes I have no idea as I dropped it in a Camaro and sold it. supposedly it makes 350 horse. it was only 1400 and came with everything to finish a short block less the valve covers.

anywho thanks for the replies. I ended up going with flat top pistons and the stock cam is being sent with the kit but I plan to upgrade it.
im not trying to do anything he didn't want. originally he told me he wanted 300 ponies out of it, but obviously he is dreaming with this stock head design and with keeping the system. . .
like everything in life, you get what you pay for.
Before the drop in compression ratio in '71, the bone-stock, station wagon/grocery-getter 350 was rated at 300 hp gross. I don't see why an '81 350 with more compression and a little more cam wouldn't at least equal it. If you're talking rear wheel hp, that's a different story.

Yeah, the SME-K-355-400 looks like a pretty good deal, and would make for a nice street engine. (that's just from looking at the specs, I've never actually used it.) You can do something similar for less money, but you have to shop around, and know what you're doing, as far as parts compatibility. Not a whole lot less money, though.
