Hi, all! I have a 69, and I thought my left low beam headlight had gone out, so I was going to replace it with a nice new set of repro T3s. However, when I turned on my high beams, the bulb seems to be working. When I turn off the brights, it doesn't. Any suggestions on what might be causing this? I don't want to drop the $ for new bulbs if that is not the problem.
On a separate but related note, how bright is the instrument display on YOUR 69? Mine seems dim, but I've never had an older car before, so maybe that's just how they are. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, forum!
it seems that the RH bulb works to your satisfaction, therefore indicating that the low beam filament or lack of voltage to same isn't there. remove bulb, test for voltage or just replace the bulb. halogens are a lot brighter you'd like them. oh ya rotate the headlight switch **** to increase or decrease dash light.
I have the same problem, but its my high beams that don't work. They worked fine then one day they both stopped working. I'm 90% positive that the problem is with the dimmer switch that changes the current between the high beams and low beams. For me (1977) its located underneath the steering cable and can be replaced fairly easily. Its also fairly cheap, $20.
Hi, I have the same problem as JD. How can I understand what type of bulb I have? Also... I was looking on where to find replacement and popular websites have low beam and high beam bulbs... Are the low beam ones the right replacement? Thanks

Most have a model number ID stamp on the back.
...Are the low beam ones the right replacement?...
I'm not sure what you mean. Right as in correct or right as in position? The outer lights are low beam and are two element lamps. The inners are the high beams and have one element.

I have to replace the outer one and from what I understand (and you confirm it) it has two elements (one for low beam and one for high beam) while the inner have only one element for high beam; but it seems that if I look for replacement beams websites refers to low beam and high beam. Will the low beam have two elements (also the one for high beam)?
Low beam bulbs have 2 filaments: one for lo beam and one for hi beam. Odds are that the lo beam filament is burned out. But, you could swap the RH and LH low beam lamps to check for sure.
