I noticed a pretty loud clunking while I was driving the other day, I looked under the rear end and one of the U-joint strap bolts going on my rear end fell off.
It's a $1.50 part at Zips but that is the only thing I need right now and don't feel like paying for shipping, does anyone know what size bolt it is? I would like to try and pick one up at the hardware store.
check your u-joints. they are a common problem and may have caused the bolts to come off. regular bolts at the hardware store may not be strong enough. you need automotive bolts. grade 5 or 8 i guess.
Thanks for the input, just installed a new trailing arm on that side, guess it was my fault for not pulling the wheel off and checking on everything after the first 50 miles.
I will try Advance Auto parts to see if they have what I need......fingers crossed they do.
Depending on the u joint size its a 1/4 or 5/16. Use Allen style bolts as the are stronger than a grade 8 and easier to install. Also use removable (blue) thread locker.
Just found a Dorman kit at Advance Auto for $3.99, hopefully they have it in stock, thank for the tip on the thread locker, completely forgot about it when we put the trailing arm back on.
