Hi JB,
It depends which muffler you wanted?
For me stock... for MANY people something else!
Why the question?
Regards,
Alan

Do you not like the way the look or sound? I was thinking of getting some for my 72.

I just replaced the entire exhaust system on my '70 LS5 and I love the Magnaflows. Nice deep rumble while just cruising and very impressive at WOT. They make an oval shaped muffler design that looks very original on the car.

Thanks for all the for all the fead back everyone.
I have magnaflows on another car i own and i like them on that. . I'm not a fan of flowmasters because they're on every SUV and Truck i see or hear and are a little too loaud. I do like the way magnaflows sound on my vette but wasn't sure if i should keep everything stock.

I had a set of Flowmasters on a previous car I owned and the biggest complaint I had was the backfire popping noise they made when you would downshift to brake going down hill. That was really annoying. The Magnaflows don't do that and the sound is much deeper and more of the classic muscle car sound.

Do you still have the stock mufflers? If you do, no problem keeping them around in case down the road you want everything stock.

When I bought my 1970 l46 the previous owner had 1972 mufflers on there, he also gave me the originals (not sure why he changed them, maybe a leak somewhere or rust). I in turn took down the entire exhaust system, set it aside and am about to install the Pypes 2.5" SS system.

No harm in going non-stock especially if you keep the stock parts around. Unless of course you plan on having the car judged.

Are you sure it was due to the mufflers and not potentially running too lean? What car was it?
