So let me start off by saying I know this is a pretty vague description, I don't have my Vette in the same city so I am going off of what I remember from driving her around last week.
I've got a 1979 Corvette and had all of the belts, hoses, fluids, etc... changed about 7 months ago when I bought her. Recently I have noticed a loud high pitched squeaking sound when I floor the peddle or get above 65mph on the highway. It sounds to me like it is coming from the engine or potentially the transmission? My first thought was squeaky belts but being as they were all just replaced and that the sound does not appear until my RPMs get up I've almost completely dismissed the idea that it could be the belts. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Please keep in mind that I don’t have my Vette with me right now so I am unable to answer any detailed questions until I get back to her next week. Also it does not make the squeaking sound at all until I get the RPMs up. I would like to start a think tank so I can address the issue. Thanks!
I would still suspect the belts. New ones can loosen up a little and need to be re-adjusted. I would check them first before continuing. Check the simple stuff first.
I agree with Casey. It could be a loose belt. My AC compressor belt will do that since it is the longest. I guess at high RPM it has trouble keeping tension. I have a pro6ten compressor and the clutch pulley groove is anodized aluminum.
You might need to use a breaker bar or a pry bar (gently) to properly tension those belts. Belt dressing helps too.

My 1978 has the same problem. Just started after I replaced all the belts. Working on a solution now. Adjustments have not fixed the problems and I am now looking at the pulleys since they are very polished. My squeal starts at 4000-4500 RPM. Doesn't matter what gear I am in.
Mine starts at 3500, and won't let up, I've actuall gave up on the noise and just drive it now, summers are too short to be always fixing, fix in the long winter.. Lol

Well I fixed mine today. It was my A/C Belt causing the problem. Here is how I found my problem. I would loosen each belt one at a time to see if the starting point of the noise changed. When I loosen the A/C belt It started at 2000. I removed the belt and cleaned the A/C compressor pulley and the crank pulley with some 2000 grit sand paper. Re-tighten and it stopped squealing. I will see how this works in the long run, but so far so good. Seems the pulleys were very polished from the previously worn belt over the past 10 years of use.
A bar of soap works well for troubleshooting belt noises. Just rub some around the inside of the belt you suspect is the noisy one. If the noise goes away you have a winner. It's a useful maintenance item too. The fan belt is almost new on my 1950 Ford pickup but like the old one it requires a little soap if it's been sitting a while or it chirps and squeaks annoyingly. It has the original 239 flathead in it so I don't think it's slipping from high RPM's
This may be a given but when you re-check the belts, check all of the bolts/nuts securing the accessories as some may have not been fully tightened and come loose. Also check the fasteners on your fan (water pump)
