Default Lower idle speed when engine is cold?

When starting the car when it's cold, my engine idles about 200 RPM lower than when it's warm. Any particular cause of this? Once it's warm it's great.

Give the fast idle speed screw a quarter turn in.

I've got it set to where it will idle at about 1300 RPM during fast idle. Issue is that once it's disengaged speed drops until warm.

My '73 does this but it's only about 50-100 RPMs. Seems to be more noticeable when the transmission is in drive. I just assumed it's the difference in a cold and fully warmed up carburetor. Before I swapped the Holley double pumper for the current Street Avenger, it was worse.

Does the engine stall on you at any time? If not, don't worry about it.
Nobody has manufactured a new car with a carburetor for, what 25 years? There's a good reason for that.

Your choke duration is too short. Adjust your choke so that it stays on a little longer. If you have an integral choke carb, rotate the cover 2 notches towards "RICH." If you have a divorced choke, bend the rod to shorten the choke rod slightly.

I think you will find that you can turn the black plastic chock spring housing toward RICH and you will solve your problem. The choke won't come off as quickly which should be what you need.

There are index marks on the housing, so try moving it one mark at a time until you get the results you want. You have to loosen the three screws surrounding the housing to move it.
