Alright, I have my DynoMax headers installed...how do I get this stinkin' alternator bracket to work? Anyone have pictures or directions? I've figured out how it mounts to the header bolts, but the lower alternator bracket that bolts to it (stock bracket, the funny shaped one) does not bot up to it properly...
You could put a later model alt. bracket on your car. I have a 76 and its alt. bracket is two pieces. The pivot mount bolts to the two holes in the front of the cylinder head. The adjuster bracket bolts to a stud on the water pump. With this setup nothing bolts to the dynomax headers, thus no problems. :D :D :D
I have one that looks just like pictured on Aaron-74's motor. Mine is cast iron, has GM casting number 3951337 ... mine supposedly came off a pick up truck! It's going on my 71 cuz it had a flimsy stamped steel thing (GM factory) that also bolted onto the drivers exhaust manifold. As mentioned, the iron mount does not bolt to the manifold nor header. I understand that GM made some of these in cast aluminum ... maybe on some late sharks. Either way, should work as long as there are accessory mount holes in driver side head.
