Default Steering Help

I am doing my front end rebuild and was wondering if anyone has ever rebuilt the part of the relay rod that the pitman arm stud goes into (no power steering)? A rebuild kit is in the neighborhood of $80 bucks. I was wondering what parts usually wear and what I should reuse? It seems simple enough but could use any tips or tricks.

Yes, I would do that one too while you are there. I normally do a coplete rebuild of all the working joints. However, the first to go are the tie rod ends.

John - I think this link will help, it shows a relay rod (manual steering) rebuild using the ZIP Products kit.
http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2002...ayrod/rod1.asp

Note the notice on page 2, "Note: Our kit included the ball stud seat, which has since been discontinued. Because they are no longer available from GM, you will have to clean and reuse your old ones."

I was going to do this my self but have opted for Steeroids. Wish me luck!

Well, I got my parts in today to rebuild my relay rod and holy crap was my ball stud worn out   I will try and post some pictures as soon as I can get a good shot. The flash on my camera just washes out the shot so I'll take some when the sun is shining. If you have a sloppy steering wheel I highly recommend doing this. It is very easy and should take some slop out. I may have to readjust my steering box lash adjustment back to where it was (before I adjusted it to take up some slop). My tie rod ends and also very worn so hopefully my steering will be good after I get everything changed. I won't know for a few weeks because I am battling a bent lower control arm.
