Default Diff Plug Leak

I noticed a drip on the floor under my '79's rear end so out came the jack stands and flashlight today.

Diff is leaking from the drain plug. I sent the diff, t/a's & halfshafts off to VanSteel for a rebuild a couple of winters ago and they did an outstanding job. I failed to mention the leak from the drain plug before sending the parts in thinking they would magically know to fix the problem. So, what can I do about this? Put an O-ring on the drain plug? Teflon tape? New plug? Should I remove the limited slip diff lube tag from the plug?

I used thread sealant. I think I got it at Advance Auto. Don't put it on the first few threads. Worked great on mine.

I had the same problem, I put teflon tape on mine, and no more leaks

Yes. And the teflon tape will make it easier to remove the plug, next time.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad the usual suspects - Teflon tape and thread sealant - will work.
