I'm currently prepping my birdcage for the windshield and was wondering how water drains from the little"pocket" at the intersection of the front fender and bottom of the birdcage. I cleaned it out and didn't notice and drain holes or low point for drainage. It looks like water will pool on the bottom edge of the birdcage.
I was also wondering if the seal or piece of rubber that closes the back lip of the front fender can be replaced without removing the fender. Mine looks like a chewed up piece of rubber.
Hi Kevin,
What was there seems to depend on the year of the car.
On my 71 there was some fairly hard rubber that seemed to have been squirted into the space while soft, and was shaped by the structure around it.
In later years there seems to have been a more defined part.
Hers's some pictures of what came out of mine.
Regards,
Alan
I have dealt with more water leaks in this area than I can count. Will be more than glad to aid you but I can not type for hours on what to do. Call me so we can talk ( if you care to) and I can describe the "issues" along with verifying what year you have because there is a difference...and NOT ALL C3's are the same.

Thanks, you guys did identify the "seal" and correct area. My main concern is water sitting at the base of this seal and birdcage...I don't see anywhere for water to go. I cleaned it well and didn't see any drain holes and the elevation will hold water for sure.
When I look at all of the sealed areas on this Vette I just shake my head!! I don't understand what the engineers where trying for.
