I have two problems in my C3 1973 and I was wondering if anybody would help me fixing them.
1. I have small block with AC. Fan speed switch does not operate correctly. In MAX fan speed position - it is actually OFF and when it is supposed to be OFF it is in its "first gear". I purchased this car when AC was disconnected and put it back in - I think there is something wrong in wiring. I remember reading about exactly same issue some time ago but I am not able to locate it in this forum anymore.
2. Does anybody have working parking brake? When I say working I mean I can actually use it in curves to slide car in correct direction. If I need to park my car I use first gear but I need it while driving.... is there any replacement to original brake?
1: Check the wiring at the fan switch and at the resistor under the hood. Something is backwards or the resistor is shorted out.
2: Corvette parking brakes work good when they work. If the cables are not frozen and if the hardware inside the rear brake hats are still working and adjusted correctly, then you should be able to do what you need to do. Otherwise, plan on replacing the parking brake assemblies and cables. Do it all. BTW, replacing the parking brake assemblies is a real PITA!

I assumed the OP was using it in a performance setting. Around here, the locals like to try the James Bond spin maneuvers and such when given the chance.
Probably actually not anything wrong with the switch. Here is the way it normally works. OFF the fan is on low all of the time. Then it works in steps up to high, but on an AC car the MAX goes through another circuit. So see its really working correctly except the MAX is not coming on. Go looking for the MAX air power.
I would suspect a blown high speed blower relay if the previously mentioned fuse is ok. The relay is mounted on the right side of the engine compartment on the a/c housing. You can sometimes open up the relay and file the relay points and get it working again or purchase a replacement relay.

Thank you very much for your help. The switch and resistor harness is original and in good shape. Resistor looks also good. It seemed to me there is another AC related wire which got disconnected. Anyway I will get to the bottom if this and check voltage at resistor.
It is good to know that somebody has parking brake working correctly. I have managed to get it to the point when it works if car is parked but is has very little effect while C3 is moving. I will get back to this again.

Thank you so much - this is what I thought! I will take this approach.
Apparently thats the way they drive in the Czech Republic,,, & I kinda understand it. Peace,,, moosie
Are we all driving sports cars?
But seriously this car is for show and I take it to speedway. I have changed rear suspension a bit (light monospring, new wheels and tires) to be able to do it. Anyway if you have not tried to block rear wheels while making a turn - you miss a lot of fun. (Do not worry I am in Florida every year )
Hi p,
The 'Parking Brake' was just that. It wasn't designed or intended to slow the car down while it was moving. I'd think that's why you're finding it not too effective for what you're using it for.

Alan

Thanks for your helpful input. Based on your picture I have found that that the orange fused line has been cut in harnes so I have rewired it - did not find the 30A fuse (was probably removed by previous owner) so I added a new one. AC relay works fine. Now I need to address the control switch. I am not sure but I woudl think that it is OFF it should not run at all, or? Thanks again for great help!
