Default 73 Seat Belt Help

So I have just bought my first corvette. 73 coupe, Yeah Me!

The car is in transit but I know the seat belts are mostly missing. The driver side is missing the lap belt but has the buckle, the passenger side has the lap belt and buckle but the retractor is broken. There are no shoulder belts at all.

The seats are not cut out for shoulder belts.

I have been looking and looking to see how the shoulder belts are configured on a 73' and cant seem to find any photos.

Any help is appreciated.

First, Welcome to the world of '73 Corvettes.
Second, Welcome to the CorvetteForum.

Third, it will be said eventually, but grab yourself an AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual). Most of the major Corvette retailers have a copy, and it is a great book to see how the car goes together. There are a couple of other books that could help out as well, depending on how deep you want to dive in and do the work yourself.

I don't have any pictures to help with right now, but I am sure someone else will chime in shortly.

I have just finished seat belt repair/refurbishing on my '72. Eric at Seatbelt Solutions in Jupiter, FL did a great job for me.

Somebody has modified your car. All '73 coupes had shoulder belts that passed through openings in the seat backs.

Do you want exact factory replacement or will anything will do?

Factory = $$$$$$$$$$ SnakeOil and others
Repop = $$$$$$$ vette vendors
Generic = $$

The cheapest is from an F body
Also, do you want to switch as well so that the seat belt light functions?
Do you want it replaces with the original 3 parts or 2 part seatbelts?

Nothing is simple

I would highly recommend that you install a combination seat/shoulder belt setup like all new cars have. And, I don't particularly care for the shoulder belt through the seat back on early 70's C3s...it rubs on your neck and is not that comfortable.

Solutions to achieve that may be as inticate as returning your car to "stock" condition. But, I believe you will be more satisfied with the [functional] results.

Default Which seat back do you have?

Camaro seat belts work very good and are cheap.

Thanks everyone, great information. The only thing that has made sense since I started to research this is that the seats might have been replaced. (out of a convertible?) I will have to wait until the car is delivered before I can really figure out what is going on.
