Please excuse my ignorance....but I removed the air cleaner housing today,
because my 81 is running rough and stalled today and I was just checking around for a vacuum leak,
and I noticed this broken valve.
My AIM manual calls it an ASM valve?
Ecklers calls that housing a thermostat housing w/ emissions ports so I'm guessing these are some sort of emissions valves?
Can anyone tell me a couple of things....like
1) What is it and what does it do?
2) Do I need to drain the radiator when I swap this part out?
3) Is this the replacement? http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...roduct_Related
you would need to drain radiator low enough to replace valve. mine is set up where bottom hose of switch connects to the "T" at bottom of carb and other to the heat riser. when engine is cold valve has vacuum to the heat riser and closes it. when engine reaches op temp valve closes and heat riser opens. since you have no vacuum running to valve, you should not have vacuum leak. my heat riser does not work so hose is plugged at riser. hope I am right on this
