My 77 Vette falls flat on its face when I punch it hard. Had the Quadrajet carb rebuilt and timing checked. This happens when engine is cold or hot. It acts like it is starving for fuel.
Mine does it too, I have been told it is a clogged filter on the pickup in the tank, makes sense so I am pulling mine out this weekend to have a look, suggest you do the same.
There are several reasons it may be bogging. Do a search here and you'll find plenty of info. A clogged pickup tube in the tank is not likely your issue.

Cheers, Dennis.
Before you waste your time, have you done a fuel pressure test?

In addition to the primary accelerator pump it could be a low float level or the secondary air valve is not correctly adjusted.
I would define 'flat on it's face'. If you punch it and it coughs before it builds speed = accelerator pump is weak or not working. If it simply does not have the 'go' it should and appears to starve, then that suggests fuel flow issues or secondaries as pointed out.
