Default What are these for??
There are two rivets just above the door latch post. Anyone know what these hold in place? I have looked through the AIM twice front to back and can't find anything on them.

pretty sure they hold the threaded nut and or plate that the door lock striker bolts to.

That could be. I have some damage to the lip on the inside edge of that area where the screws hold the inside trim and will need to be sanding in that area and didn't want to sand down those two rivets until I knew what they did. Thanks

NO...the threaded nut plate is held in by a welded in cage. The rivets are for riveting the fiberglass panel to the rear "B" pillar.

The two rivets in question they attach to the birdcage and that is all

Hi,
The 2 rivets are shown in the AIM.
In the 1971 version they're in UPC 1 Bolt/Weld, Sheet B9. They're called out as item #7.
