Hey guys...have a 75 and the right side headlights "bounce" due to vibration something fierce. The left side is solid...any suggestions to adjust/firm it up? Thanks a bunch! Rick
There is a bar on the side of the headlight bracket that has a screw and a nut on the end of it. When the headlights are up the screw should be adjusted so that it makes contact with the bracket holding it firm. I believe from the factory the screw where covered with a rubber cushion.
One of my cars came with the same symptom after I brought it home. It turns out the headlight frame was broken on one of the front "legs". The only cure for me was a new frame.
Thanks to you both...it definitely gives me a starting point. This thing has been a beast...everything you touch...you want to replace! LOL Does it ever end???
The short answer is no it doesn't end.
I've got some shaky headlights also. I haven't taken the time to post anything about them yet. Glad someone finally addressed this one.
Hi jump,
Roco's got the likely answer.
In addition the headlight mechanism needs to open completely to go into the 'lock' position. IF you can push the door closed without reaching underneath to release the mechanism the door isn't fully open.
If you can't move it it's likely Rocco's 'stop'.
Sometimes the rubber bumper has fallen off the bolt.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
Thanks Rat and Alan...I saw a nice C3 one day right at dusk...and one headlight was doing the huckle-buck...I thought what a shame....now I have one doing the same thing! LOL
I can move the mechanism up/down a little...but its definitely firm enough that I can't push down by hand. I replaced both actuators and relays...could I have misadjusted something as well?

Alan,
Is the rubber bumper in your photo on the screw head the same rubber bumper used on the hood latch on a 71?
Thanks, Scott
Thanks all...you don't know how much your time and guidance is appreciated. I'm gonna go lay down in the garage floor and see if I can check it out! LOL
