I have a friend who has a ZF6 from the fllywheel back, but someone told him it would not work on a 1975 chevy 350, something about the wrong type crankshaft. Does this make sense to anyone??

In the mid eighties they went to a 1 piece rear main seal from a 2 piece( your 75). The crankshaft is different requiring a different flywheel.

A different flywheel may be able to be purchased but it will probably be expensive. I quickly researched a Camaro T56 transmission swap behind an my 2 piece seal 383 and it was around $400 for the flywheel.

The ZF Trans came from GM with a Duel Mass Clutch and Flywheel. You can buy an aftermarket Flywheel Clutch set up that will work. But You will not like it. The ZF was intended for the Duel Mass Clutch it came with and when in newtral with out it it will rattle. Badly, like it will drive you nuts. Its a great Trans, but its an engineered system, not to be messed with.
