I'd agree with that choice. Comes with parts to adjust the mechanical advance and an adjustable vacuum advance. All for $120.

I used the stock '76 HEI, but properly set up as to advance and timing curve, for years without problems. After I built and installed my stroker, I decided to get an ACCEL distributor with the correctly aligned wires, left side wires on left side of cap, right side wires on right side of cap. I had the curve set up the same as on the previous GM HEI unit. I use the Lars recommended vacuum unit.
Runs well and plug wires look a lot neater and are easier to route.
ANY distributor must be set up properly.
