My 72 LT1 has power steering. It is so sensitive that i am considering changing it over to a Borgenson system. Has anyone done this and did it help. My current steering system is perfect but just too sensitive for my needs. Anyone making the change or having knowledge about would be appreciated. thanks, d.
Do a search here and in the C2 section. Lots of good info. I've got it on my car and am very impressed with it. I did an article for Corvette Enthusiast on the install. There's a link on Borgeson's site but something isn't working right with it..doesn't get to right place. There were some IT issues when Corvette Enthusiast merged into Auto Enthusiast.
I'll see if I can get it posted up somewhere for you.

Jim,
A forum friend just emailed your article to me. Nicely done. I was actually going to look you up and send a PM, but since you're here I have one big question- for my '69 427 with Hedman 2" primary tube headers, do you know if the Borgeson box will fit without having to dimple the closest tube for clearance? I'd love to install one but, as visible as that part of the headers is, I really don't want to put a dent in them. I've never found anybody who could give me a definitive answer, so I'm hoping you know. Thanks.
I know how to do the install. I want to know if someone has done it and is it worth the effort and cost. Does the car drive much better. I want it to feel like new type steering instead of the old sensitive type that it now has. If you drive it all the time u don't notice it. If you drive your modern cars and go back to it, it feel way to sensitive. Want to talk to someone who can tell me how it feels. Borgenson rep said it is just like new cars but I want to talk to someone with a 68-72 vette change over.

You might also want to send a PM to Jim_Shea (the resident expert on the GM/Corvette P/S system...and past GM employee at Saginaw Steering). You might be able to simply change a spring in the control valve on your car and reduce the sensitivity of your P/S unit.

What do you mean by "sensitive"? Borgeson ratio is 12:1. Stock PS ratio is about 15-16:1. Lock to lock w/Borgeson is about 3, stock is about 4.
I have the Borgenson unit with 20K miles over three years of driving. It was great from day one. We installed the box, new springs and new front suspension. The car was not perfect until I replaced rear suspension parts and got an alignment.

I have a '71 with power steering and after replacing my suspension, went with a smaller diameter steering wheel, and having a good alignment, I felt that it was overly sensitive.
So what I did was move my tie rods from the inner hole to the 2nd, outside hole. This may have reduced my turning radius but it made my car feel less "darty", or sensitive as you've referred to it as.
