Default 72 engine bay harness

when the engine comes out soon i will be tiding up the original un-molested engine bay.
i have already bought a new engine harness to suit my 350 auto w/ac a few months ago for my spares box.
just having a look under there and it appears that i will need others...

is the alternator plugs/wiring part of the front lamp harness? or other?
there is a mass of uncovered orange/red wires going to the terminal/relay on the side by the alt, what harness are they from?

what about the ac wiring by the heater box?

only asking now cause it takes over a month to get order shipped down under,
and with xmas coming, who knows how long they will take.

Hi rrau,
I can answer for the alternator connections... they're part of the engine/ignition harness.
It looks like the a/c harness is a separate harness in the engine compartment, and part of the dash harness in the interior.

Alan

I always though that the alternator wiring was in the forward lamp harness.

That relay is your horn relay. The large gauge wires that are secured it to come from both harnesses and possible separate harness for A/C so it is getting 12 volt power. In these harnesses...there are often fusible links installed. The one form you A/C may have a separate fuse holder in it that holds a 30 amp fuse for your high speed blower fan operation. I am not at work where my wiring diagrams are located....so for EXACT clarification on these power circuits...hopefully someone will post a photo...or obtain a wiring diagram.

Hi,
Dub's right, the alternator and horn relay wiring are part of the forward lighting harness.
Old and Dumb!

The a/c harness is separated and does have a heavy orange wire that starts at the blower relay and leads to a inline fuse on the driver side. The wire that comes from the other side of the inline fuse is red that wire connects to the horn relay.

hard to get in there properly to get a good photo

ignore the 2 heavy gauge red wires on the left, they are for the relays for the headlights and a extra power from the alternator

also this is on the firewall between the brake booster and the wiper motor, what is it?

looks like the ac harness does inside the cabin and the engine bay due to the large grommet on the wires

The last photo is a 30 amp fuse for your power windows. Should be a red wire going to the horn relay and a orange (with black strip) going to the P/W relay in the console. Wiper relay is in the console as well.
